ICE Full Fat Recumbent Trike Hire | Kielder Forest

The ICE Full Fat Recumbent Trike is a stable, confidence-inspiring adaptive cycle designed for off-road and mixed-terrain riding on wide, well-surfaced routes. With its low recumbent riding position, three-wheel layout and large-volume tyres, it offers a different style of cycling experience that prioritises comfort, traction and stability on forest roads and non-technical trails.

What kind of riding is it suited to?

The ICE Full Fat is best suited to wide gravel trails, forest roads, firm dirt tracks and other non-technical off-road surfaces. Its design helps riders feel planted and stable, with excellent traction from the oversized tyres and a secure, reclined riding position. It is a great option for riders looking for a recumbent cycling experience on agreed, suitable routes approved by Team Cycles.

Who may find it suitable?

This trike may suit riders who prefer a recumbent position, benefit from added stability, or want to ride off-road on wider, smoother trails without needing to balance an upright cycle. It may be particularly appealing to riders who are comfortable sitting lower to the ground and who have good upper-body control and hand function for steering, braking and gear selection.

It may be less suitable for riders who find it difficult to get down into or rise from a low seat, riders needing hoist-assisted or wheelchair-level transfers, or riders who require specialist seating or postural support.

Mounting, controls and support

To use the ICE Full Fat, riders need to be able to lower themselves into a low recumbent seat and stand back up again afterwards. Team Cycles staff can explain the controls and demonstrate safe mounting and dismounting techniques, but we cannot provide physical lifting or assisted transfers.

Some riders may prefer to come with a companion who can help with low-speed manoeuvring, route support or general reassurance. Riders should be comfortable operating hand steering, hand brakes and, where fitted, electric-assist controls, while remaining aware of other trail users and changing conditions.

Size and practical information

The ICE Full Fat is an adult-sized recumbent trike with an approximate width of 99 cm and a low seat height of around 42 cm. Fit is adjusted mainly through leg length, with the manufacturer’s stated X-seam range approximately 94–127 cm. Seat angle can also be adjusted to create a more upright or more reclined riding position.

Because of its size and width, the trike is not suitable for narrow routes, tight barriers, highly technical trails or busy shared paths with restricted space. Use is limited to routes agreed and approved by Team Cycles.
