The ICE Handcycle is a three-wheeled, recumbent hand-powered cycle designed for riders who propel using their upper body rather than their legs. With a supportive recumbent seat, stable handling and a ride feel suited to well-surfaced routes, it offers an enjoyable option for leisure rides, longer-distance outings and accessible cycling on cycle paths, quiet roads and firm shared-use trails.

What kind of riding is it suited to?
The ICE Handcycle is best suited to paved cycle paths, shared-use paths, quiet roads and firm, well-maintained gravel trails. It is designed for riders who want a stable hand-powered cycle for leisure riding or longer-distance outings on accessible, well-surfaced routes. It is not intended for steep, highly uneven, loose or technical off-road terrain.
Who may find it suitable?
This handcycle may suit riders who use upper body strength for propulsion, prefer the stability of a three-wheeled cycle and are comfortable riding from a supportive recumbent seating position. It may work well for riders who can transfer into and out of the seat independently and who are able to operate hand controls safely.
It may be less suitable for riders unable to transfer independently into a recumbent seat, riders requiring hoist-assisted transfers, or riders needing specialist postural support beyond the standard seat options.

Mounting, controls and support
Mounting and dismounting involve transferring into and out of a recumbent seat. The Adventure HD Handcycle offers a higher seat position and a more upright seating angle than lower-performance recumbent models, which can make getting on and off easier for some riders. Even so, the movement may still be challenging for individuals with limited upper-body strength or trunk stability. Team Cycles staff can demonstrate safe techniques but cannot provide physical lifting assistance.
Some riders may benefit from support from a companion when mounting, dismounting or manoeuvring at low speed. Staff can provide an initial familiarisation with the controls and setup, but cannot offer ongoing physical support during use.
Size and practical information
The handcycle has an overall width of approximately 848–875 mm, a seat height of around 395 mm and a supportive seating position with an adjustable seat angle of approximately 54–64°. Rider fit is based mainly on X-seam, with a typical range of approximately 940–1200 mm. The higher seat position and upright angle are designed to make access easier while maintaining comfort and stability on the move.
With a low centre of gravity, stable three-wheel layout and a turning circle of around 5.1–5.5 m, the handcycle is well suited to open, well-surfaced routes where there is room to manoeuvre comfortably.

Before you book
We strongly recommend contacting Team Cycles before booking if you have any questions about fit, suitability or route choice. We can talk through your requirements and help you decide whether the ICE Handcycle is the right option for your ride. Riders are responsible for deciding whether the handcycle is appropriate for them, with input from carers or medical professionals where needed.
