What kind of riding is it suited to?

The Jorvik Freedom performs best on paved cycle paths, quiet roads, park paths and firm, well-surfaced gravel trails. At Team Cycles Kielder, use of this tricycle is strictly limited to the Lakeside Way and Borderline trails only. It is not designed for steep, uneven or technical off-road terrain, deep sand or highly uneven surfaces.

Who may find it suitable?

This tricycle may suit riders who prefer or require the stability of a three-wheeled cycle, benefit from back and arm support while riding, or would like electric assistance to reduce physical effort. It may work well for riders who are comfortable mounting and dismounting at the stated step-over height and who want to ride on accessible, well-surfaced shared-use paths.

It may be less suitable for riders unable to step over the frame without physical assistance, riders requiring wheelchair-level or hoist-assisted transfers, or riders needing specialist seating or postural support beyond the standard seat, backrest and armrests.

Mounting, controls and support

Riders need to be able to step over the frame at approximately 32 cm and lower themselves into a seated position. Once seated, the supportive seat, backrest and armrests may help with comfort and balance. Team Cycles staff can demonstrate safe mounting and dismounting techniques before hire, but cannot provide physical lifting or transfers.

Some riders may benefit from support from a companion for mounting, dismounting, manoeuvring or route planning. The tricycle uses hand-operated hydraulic brakes and selectable pedal-assist levels, with a powered reverse function available to help with low-speed positioning. Riders should be comfortable using these controls independently or with support from a companion.

Size and practical information

The Jorvik Freedom has an approximate length of 176 cm, a width of 76 cm and a lowest seat height of around 69 cm from the ground. Rider fit depends mainly on leg length, and the tricycle is designed for adult riders within the manufacturer’s recommended size and weight limits. The maximum rider weight is 200 kg.

With a total weight of around 62 kg, the Jorvik Freedom is a substantial cycle designed for comfort and stability rather than speed or technical riding. Its stable three-wheel layout and predictable handling make it well suited to open, well-surfaced leisure routes.
