Join us at our Kielder Forest store for a series of expertly guided Junior Mountain Bike Camps designed to help young riders build confidence, develop skills, and progress on the trails.
Created for junior riders aged 12 to 18, these sessions provide a supportive environment to develop essential mountain bike skills, improve technique, and enjoy riding at Kielder.

Camp 1 - Foundation Skills
Saturday 9th May 2026 10:00am - 1:00pm
This camp is designed to lead your child off the firm tracks and introduce them to the essential skills required for mountain bike riding, including use of gears, balance, braking, climbing, and descending.
Introductions - near to the shop.
Bikes and Equipment - near to the shop and car park area.
About the bike and the equipment, plus basic bike checks to make sure your bike and kit are ready before you ride.
Basic Skills - near to the shop and car park area, then moving into the skills area above the car park.
Body position (ready position), introduction to braking, using gears, introduction to cornering and flow, and introduction to drops and roll-off technique.
Trail Riding - riding into Spooky Woods and returning along Forest Drive, before moving onto the bottom section of Skydive.
Building confidence on carefully selected suitable blue or red trails, with a focus on riding on hills, gentle climbing and descending, and efficient braking.
Approximate route: 9.5km and 200m of climbing
Best suited to: Junior riders aged 12 to 18 who are new to mountain biking and want to build confidence and strong core off-road riding skills.
BOOK CAMP 1Camp 2 - Trail Progression
Saturday 20th June 2026 10:00am - 1:00pm
Developing MTB skills to help your child build the skills required to ride red and black trails, this camp is ideal for riders who are newer to red trails and want to develop more confidence on demanding terrain.
Introductions - near to the shop.
Bikes and Equipment - near to the shop and car park area.
About the bike and the equipment used to ride red trails, along with full M-check bike checks before riding.
Mountain Bike Skills - developing flow through the skills area above the car park, before moving onto the last section of Lone Star (by Skyspace junction) and Skydive.
Effective braking, advanced cornering, riding berms, braking points, and manual (front wheel lift) technique.
Trail Techniques - continuing in the skills area above the car park, before moving onto the last section of Lone Star (by Skyspace junction) and Skydive.
Riding trail features and developing drop-off techniques in a supportive progression-focused environment.
Approximate route: 12km and 250m of climbing
Best suited to: Junior riders aged 12 to 18 who are ready to build the skills needed to ride red trails with greater confidence, control, and flow.
BOOK CAMP 2Camp 3 - Technical Development
Saturday 12th September 2026 10:00am - 1:00pm
Designed to further develop your child's skill to ride more technical mountain bike trails, this camp focuses on bigger drops, terrain drops, riding rocks, body position, and riding technical terrain with more confidence and control.
Introductions - near to the shop.
Bikes and Equipment - near to the shop.
About the bike and the equipment used to ride technical trails, along with full M-check bike checks before riding.
Technical Trail Skills - developing skills on Mile Down and Deadwater Jump Line red trails, with a possible return via Along the Watchtower and Twist and Shout if time and ability allow.
Advanced line choice, bigger berms, steeper terrain, and rock gardens, helping riders build skill and confidence on more technical features.
Approximate route: 14km and 400m of climbing
Best suited to: Junior riders aged 14 to 18 who already have solid trail confidence and are looking to progress onto more technical terrain.
