Bikes & Gear / Practical Tips

Choosing the right bike and kit makes all the difference. Gravel bikes like the Trek Checkpoint, XC mountain bikes like the Trek Marlin, and e-bikes such as the Trek Verve+ are available to hire at our Kielder Forest shop. Consider your route, the distance, and whether you need pedal assist for longer or hillier rides. Always bring a waterproof jacket, gloves, lights, snacks, and water. The weather in Kielder Forest can change rapidly, so prepare for anything, especially in winter and spring. Dressing in layers and carrying basic repair tools is always a good idea for peace of mind on technical trails.
